Black & Veatch Corporation Mr. Gruber has 34 years of process engineering experience in plant operations, process development, and EPC project execution. He started his career with DuPont as a process engineer at the Victoria, Texas Petrochemicals Plant and at the New Johnsonville, Tennessee Pigments Plant. Mr. Gruber was a process development engineer for Occidental Oil Shale where he designed and operated ancillary facilities for modified in-situ oil shale retorting. He was a process engineering supervisor at the Great Plains Synfuels Plant in Beulah, North Dakota from 1982 to 2001 during plant construction, startup, and the first five years of commercial operation. The Great Plains Synfuels Plant gasifies lignite to produce SNG and ammonia.
Since 2001, Mr. Gruber has been employed by Black & Veatch. He was the lead process engineer for the Coffeyville coke gasification to ammonia project. Black & Veatch performed the Front End Engineering Design (FEED) and built this plant on a lump sum EPC basis.
